Covid-19 cases worsens in U.S. as death toll nears 140,000



July 19, 2020 - Coronavirus cases in the United States seems to be worsening with 43 out of 50 States reporting surge in cases in the last two weeks.


This is even as death toll arising from the novel virus nears 140,000 with the U.S. grappling to stem the rise in cases witnessed since June.


"Since late June, the United States has seen a resurgence in new cases and now, six weeks later, deaths have also begun rising, according to a weekly Reuters analysis of state and county data.


According to the tally, the U.S. records about 5,000 Covid-19 deaths every week, almost at par with the 5,600 deaths recorded by Sweden since the Pandemic, or the 8,800 recorded by Canada so far.


In the hardest-hit U.S. counties, officials are running out of places to store bodies as their morgues fill up.
