Mali Coup: UN Security Council to hold emergency discussions on Wednesday

Aug. 18, 2020- The United Nations Security Council will hold an emergency meeting on Wednesday to discuss the military coup which led to the removal and arrest of Mali President Ibrahim Keita and top government officials by mutinying soldiers
The meeting was requested by France and Niger and will take place behind closed doors on Wednesday afternoon.
UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres has demanded “the immediate and unconditional release” of Mali’s president and members of his government.
